Creative Hour

I was livid.  Boiling hot blood pumped through my veins as I watched my step mom snip my prom dress into miniscule pieces and all because I failed to remember to pick up some eggs for tonight’s dinner.  How could my father marry such a vile woman? I couldn’t take it anymore there was nothing else to do but run.  My legs began to carry me across the hot asphalt, past my neighbors houses, through the marsh and finally to the dense forest.  Here the wrath of my Step Mom, Sue would no longer affect me.  Several hours past by and I still carried my determined walking pace until I was startled by a loud crack.  A tree off in the distance came down with a thunder, its mighty stance no longer present in the forest.  There was fear in the air, birds began to fly away, squirrels scurried up the trunks of trees and the occasional rabbit buried itself beneath the cool forest floor.  What could they be running from?  I continued cautiously further and further into the forest when my peripheral vision caught a quick glimpse of a dark figure the size of a car.  My head spun around and the huge creature was up in the air floating like a cloud and hurried away fast gracefully weaving through the maze of trees.  I was being hunted.  My escape plan was halted when I realized I was surrounded by a pod of sharks.  Staring into the eyes of the great beasts I could tell my fate was grim and my thoughts were proven right when the first shark hit me with powerful force, its jaws ripping my skin to shreds and my bones into tiny pieces.

Cellphones

. This article was written to inform people to become more aware of their cellphone usage and to think twice about whether it’s an appropriate time to use them or not.  Many people become consumed in their cellphones and don’t realize that it is disrespectful to the people around them.  The author explains that "electronic gadgetry upends traditional rules of etiquette…connecting far flung virtual communities [while] irritating the person standing next to you."  Statistic show that 32% of people feel it isn’t rude to have a conversation while texting and 10% of people under the age of 25 believe it is okay to text during intercourse.  Speaking face to face with someone has become a problem for many because of the amount of time spent on a cellphone.  Many people don’t realize how they are coming across when they are chatting away on their phones or texting in public places, its distracting.  For example, Frances McDormand told her co-star "Let's wait", "at a climactic plot point of Good People on Broadway", when an cellphone rang and was answered by its owner.  Even some restaurants have taken a stand by discouraging cellphone use and prohibiting photos, "'no cellphones' is the new 'no smoking'".  I agree with the author in that people should be more considerate to their surrounding peers by limiting their cellphone use in order to be respectful but I feel it is going a little too far when public places feel the need to ban cellphone use completely.

2.   I believe that cellphone use is acceptable when you are at home, with friends and in various public places.  Even still being too excessive on your phone when you’re with your friends to me is a little rude, especially when you are trying to have a conversation.  Cellphones should'nt be used when someone is speaking, at dinner or during performances.  Using cellphones during this time is disrespectful and people shouldn’t feel the need to use them, if they do they have a problem.  It is unessesary for public places to go as far as to ban cellphone usage because cellphones, as much of a problem as they can be are also very useful.  If there happens to be an emergency, whether it’s within the family or not, cellphones are an on hand device to get help right away.

Back In Time

If I could travel back in time I would choose to go back to the Mesozoic Era or the "Age of the Reptiles".  When I was little one of my favorite movies was Jurassic Park, despite the fact that it scared me silly.  I would always have reoccurring dreams about the movie that a Tyrannosaurus Rex was chasing me and I'd have to hide in my parent’s closet until they became civil with me.  It scared me so much that when I would see water rippling in a cup due to blasting up in the mountains, I’d have to run to my window and make sure there wasn’t a giant dinosaur running at full speed ready to chew up my family outside.  Although it may sound a little strange that I would choose the one era that would terrify me most but I think it would be very interesting to travel back to either the Triassic or Jurassic period and see just how giant those creatures were as well as how they interacted with one another.  Also, I wouldn’t mind flying on the back of a Pterodactyl, that’d be pretty amazing. Dinosaurs were amazing creatures and it’s hard to believe that they once roamed the earth long before us.  Scientists would be able to understand and gain more knowledge on evolution if they were exposed in the era where dinosaurs were alive.  There are still many mysteries hiding in the crust of the earth waiting to be discovered but still may never be found.  For now, my only option of seeing a real life dinosaur would be to visit a museum where the bones of the deceased where carefully matched and placed together but, I’m fine with that!

Macbeth Act 2

In the second act of Macbeth the plan about killing King Duncan is underway. Lady Macbeth poisons the guards in King Duncan's room planning to frame them for the bloody murder they are about to commit. As Macbeth makes his way to the kings room he finds himself hallucinating seeing daggers flying towards him. However, once he's in the room the daggers disappear and the only thing Macbeth sees before his eyes is the King peacefully sleeping in his bed. After repeatedly stabbing Duncan, Macbeth returns to his lady covered in blood and still holding his murder weapons. Lady Macbeth  is furious and has to return to the crime scene to place the weapons in the guards possession because her husband failed to do so. Once the murder is done Mcduff knocks upon Macbeth's gates asking to see the king. He goes to wake the King only to find him dead. Upon hearing the news Macbeth kills the guards out of "fury" before they awake. King Duncan's death allowed Macbeth to become the new king just as the witches said he would.

At first Macbeth didn't want to kill King Duncan but Lady Macbeth persuaded him into doing so. I believe after committing this murder and the witches second prediction coming true Macbeth and Lady Macbeth will spiral out of control doing whatever they need to in order to get what they want.

AWESOME.

Have you ever been going through Cd's when you come across that dusty old scratched disc you had once listened to in elementary school?  I love it when I find old music that I haven't listened to for ages especially when I still remember the words to those childhood songs.  When Sarah and I were young  we like to make Cd's. I received a few from Sarah on my birthday and from her birthday party when it was apart of the "goody bag".  I recently found one of these Cd's in one of my old CD holders.  My sister Kirsti and I went through it on the way into town one day and found songs such as inspector gadget, I am a pizza, the unicorn song and the boys in the bright white sports car.  This not only brought smiles to our faces but it also brought a flood of childhood memories which I found AWESOME.

I'm not sure about anybody else but I'm sure feeling the stress of the approaching exams we are about to take. Exam week is hard on anybody. Who wants to spend there precious free time studying for subjects they have to be tested on. Although, after those hours and hours of endless studying, nothing feels better than getting that weight lifted off your back when exiting the chilled gym knowing that you just finished your last exam and won't have to take another for the next four months.  As our exam week is just around the corner I'm sure looking forward to Thursday when I will be writing my last exam of semester one. AWESOME.

The Black Death

The Black Death was a horrible plague that greatly effected the European population around 1348.  The disease was passed around by infected fleas carrying the bacterium Yersina Pestis which comes from rats and other small animals.  The Black plague came in three different forms bubonic which was the most common, pneumonic and septicemic, the rarest of the three.  When someone was infected with the bubonic form of the plague one symptom concluded of large painful swellings around the neck, armpits and groin.  When these large tumors appeared it usually signaled that the person infected had a week or less to live.  Not as common as the first, the second form of the plague was a respiratory infection targeting the lungs.  People could be infected with this form of plague if they were breathed on by a someone who was infected, there was no escaping the plague.  People with this infection had life expectancy of 2 to 3 days.  Finally, the septicemic form which was the most uncommon.  This form of plague caused skin to turn dark shades of purple also known as DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation).  As soon as symptoms of DIC began to show often the victims died the same day.  The black  plague had greatly affected Europe almost wiping out their whole race but once the plague came to an end survivors repopulated.
